San Francisco-based algae-to-biofuels developer Solazyme plans to make waves in the food industry as well, according to the San Francisco Business Times. In the past few months Solazyme made breakthroughs in its nutritionals business, using algae to create a mustard subsitute, a milk substitute and cookies. The company plans to have food products on the market in 2010.
